August Newsletter
Wow, what an amazing, but very unusual bowling season we are experiencing. Never has it been known before for the ladies to have to rearrange or cancel matches due to the heat, at the advice of the League. Trying to keep the bowls on the Green has been a challenge, games taking much longer to complete, as we collect the Woods that have ended up in the ‘ditch’. Good fun, tricky and very different. We held the DRAWN PAIRS on Friday 7th August, our most popular event, so well attended and enjoyed by all, again helped along nicely by the beautiful balmy evening which it was. Thank you to everyone who supported this event, there was some superb bowling. Congratulations to the four well deserved finalists, Liz Hirst and Andrew Astbury, our winners, beating Laura Bateman and John Pearman in an exciting final. The MENS SINGLES was played on Tuesday Evening 11th August, again the weather helping to make the competition a success. There was some very good bowling, to say the condition of the Green, due to the extreme hot weather. Credit to both Grant Richardson and Andrew Astbury who played a brilliant final game, Grant being the worthy winner.REMINDERS for your diariesMENS DOUBLES - Tues 8th September 6.30pm startSheet on clubhouse noticeboardWHIZZ - Sunday August 30th 10.30am start at Almondbury Bowling Club Thank you to the players who have entered.
