About Shepley Bowling Club

Our facilities

Shepley Bowling Club is a crown green bowling club located on the edge of Shepley Village and our bowling green enjoys a beautiful setting nestled beside open countryside. There is car parking available at the top of Lea Head as well as our own small car park accessed by a short private track. Our club house has meeting rooms, kitchen and toilet facilities. There is good level access for everyone to the green and surrounding seating and viewing shelters however our club house does not presently provide wheel chair access.

The Bowling Season

The bowling season runs from April to September inclusive and during this time Shepley Bowling Club members have access to the club's green for practice and social bowling whenever there are no matches taking place. For those interested in competitive bowling we have a number of teams which may be of interest to you, see below.

Equipment

Bowling is a relatively inexpensive sport, the most expensive outlay will be for your bowls, or woods as they are often called. However the club has a range of bowls, and all other necessary equipment, available for members to use. At some stage bowlers usually prefer to purchase their own bowls, but it is often better to try several different weights/sizes from the club's collection before you do this. To get started though the only thing you will need is a pair of flat bottomed shoes/trainers. Heels are not permitted on the green due to the damage caused. If you are new to bowling check out our 'New to bowling' page.

Club competitions and events

Throughout the season we organise a range of bowling competitions and events open to all our members. A summer evening of bowling, food and drinks in a beautiful setting - what's not to like! You will find details of upcoming events on our 'News' page.

Teams

We have teams participating in a number of local leagues at all age groups and are always encouraging new players. Further details can be found on our Teams page.
